About the Club & Membership Information
|This is the foundation breed club in Australia, and was formed in 1959 by a dedicated group of enthusiasts, including breeders, shooters and exhibitors, all of whom had one common interest … English Setters, and the promotion and improvement of this historical and beautiful gundog.
- Membership of the club will enable you to:
- keep in touch with English Setter news within Australia and abroad
- participate in events
- vote at club elections and/or stand for a position on the Committee of Management
- contribute to the future development of the club and welfare of the breed.
A regular newsletter goes to all financial members and contains information about club activities, schedules for events, articles of interest on the breed, show results, photos and general interest items. Newsletters are usually forwarded via email however if overseas members want to receive via mail, postage of AUD $10 should be added to the subscription.
The financial year of the club commences on the 1st January each year, and terminates on 31st December of the same year. Member fees are payable prior to the 30th January each year to maintain continuity of membership. New members joining after 1st October are covered for the following year. Eligibility criteria applies to compete for club awards or to be nominated for Committee.
Current membership fees (ie 2017) are:
- Single membership $25 per annum
- Dual membership $35 per annum
- Junior membership (under 16 years of age) $15 per annum
Please note: The Victorian Canine Association Inc non-VCA member insurance levy is required to be collected and forwarded to the VCA by all affiliated clubs. This levy applies ONLY to Victorian club members who are not members of the VCA Inc.
Interstate and overseas members are EXEMPT from this levy. So, if you are a Victorian resident and wish to apply for membership, and you are not a member of the VCA Inc, the levy applicable is $7.75 for a single member, or $15.50 for a dual/family membership.
All members of the club must adhere to the Code of Practice - Breeding as a condition of membership.
