ENGLISH SETTER ASSOCIATION OF VICTORIA Inc
|Whether you own or are contemplating owning this beautiful breed for showing, working, or for the pure pleasure of having an English Setter as part of your family, the breed's biddable temperament and ability to fit in to family life makes them a most beautiful canine companion. We hope the information contained in these pages will be helpful and informative.
The breed has minimal health issues but those to be looked out for are Hip Dysplasia and Inherited deafness. The ESAV has developed a Code of Practice - Breeding to which all members must adhere. Full details are on the Health page. Note: There are breeders of English Setters who are not members of the English Setter Association of Victoria, so it is the buyer's responsibility to ask if their breeding stock has been screened for HD and deafness, and to ask for proof of the results.
Find out more about this beautiful breed by reading though our pages.
The weekend of 5/6/7 May this year was a busy one for a number of Victorian English Setter club members and supporters.
The ESAV had a stand at the Dog Lovers Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, thanks to Michaela Barraclough's organising. Long days for some tired dogs and people.
Here's a photo of our breed on the stage with Dr. Harry.
They were so happy to talk to the people and created a lot of interest!
ESAV Inaugural Field Trials for Pointers & Setters
Fortunately there were enough birds for a result: The Novice winner was Pointer Dog Walteela Golden Flash bred and handled by Joe Camilleri; The Open winner was also a Pointer Dog Rip Rap Rebel owned and handled by Barry Oliver.
Of 12 Novice entries, 5 were English and in the Open one English from nine entries. The best performed English Setter on the day was in the Novice, Linda Atkinson's Quailpoint Linda's Choice CD RA. Well done!
